A golden bikini worn by Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in “Return of the Jedi” sold at an auction for $175,000.

This famous costume, which includes hip rings, an armlet, and a bracelet, was purchased by an unnamed bidder during a Hollywood memorabilia auction. The sale featured more than 500 items and was organized by Heritage Auctions in Dallas.

In the movie, Princess Leia wears this outfit after being captured by Jabba the Hutt, making it a popular piece among “Star Wars” fans. The auction house described it as “one of the most memorable” costumes in the “Star Wars” series.

The bikini was designed by Nilo Rodis-Jamero and crafted by jeweller Richard Miller using resin and urethane. Miller explained that the costume’s appearance was meant to show Princess Leia’s maturity over the trilogy.

The auction raised a total of $5.9 million, with other notable items sold, including a model of a Y-wing fighter from “Star Wars: A New Hope,” which sold for $1.55 million. This Y-wing model became the third-most expensive “Star Wars” prop ever sold, with the top record held by an X-wing model at $3.1 million.

Other auction highlights included an original “Scrooge McDuck” artwork sold for over $312,000, Celeste Holm’s Oscar statuette for $93,750, and a wand used by Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which fetched nearly $94,000. Joe Maddalena, Heritage Auctions’ executive vice president, remarked that collectors’ interest in owning Hollywood history remains strong and enthusiastic.
