All Whites beaten by Russia

June 18, 2017

The All Whites have been beaten 2-0 by Russia in their first game of the Confederations Cup.

The All Whites conceded a goal from average defending. A Russer player chipped the ball over the keeper in the 31st minute and the defenders rushed to kick the ball away, but the defender kicked it in the goal.

Sloppy defending also cost New Zealand the second goal. They allowed Russian forward Fedor Smolov to tap in a low cross by team mate Alexander Samedov in the 69th minute.

The New Zealanders managed just two shots on goal.

New Zealand’s next game is against Mexico on Thursday morning.
