The White Ferns have lost their second game of the T20 World Cup.

The New Zealand side was beaten easily by hosts South Africa, leaving them at the bottom of their group and in doubt to make the playoffs.

The 65 run loss come about through a disappointing batting effort, as the side was bowled out for 67 runs in their chase of 133.

The batting effort is the team’s second lowest T20 total and their lowest T20 World Cup total.

The New Zealand chase got off to a bad start, falling to 18 for 4 in the fifth over. The game was all but gone when captain Sophie Devine, who came in at number five, was dismissed for 16. The best of the South African bowlers was Nonkululeko Mlaba who took 3 for 10 from her four overs.

Earlier in the day South Africa made 132/6. Spinner Eden Carson and pace bowler Lea Tahuhu took two wickets each.

The sides next game is against Bangladesh on Saturday morning.
