White Ferns beat West Indies

March 21, 2018

The New Zealand women’s cricketers, the White Ferns, claimed a thrilling one run win over the West Indies in game three in New Plymouth on Tuesday night.

This means the White Ferns have won the five-match T20 series with two games to spare.

Batting first the White Ferns were held to 134-7 from their 20 overs with skipper Suzie Bates batting through the innings making 52 not out off 53 deliveries while Sophie Devine crunched 41 off just 18 balls including three sixes.

In reply, the Windies needed just five runs off the last over but bowler Anna Peterson took two wickets and a run out to restrict the tourists to 133-7 and win the match by a single run.

The fourth match of the series is again in New Plymouth on Thursday.
