A UK-based charter firm, K9 Jets, has launched a service allowing clients to travel with their pets on private jets.

The firm’s inaugural flight, which transported passengers and their dogs from Dubai to London, cost £8,166 ($11,138) one way.

The company, run by a couple from Birmingham, already operates services to New Jersey, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Paris, and Lisbon.

K9 Jets emphasizes that it operates as a “public charter operator” and claims its seat prices are comparable to cargo prices for dogs traveling with an air ticket for their owners.

Critics argue the service is another example of private aviation catering to the super-rich.
