Star Wars smashes Box Office records

December 23, 2015

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has smashed the record for the biggest box office opening weekend in North America.

With ticket sales of $348m NZD it has beaten the previous record of $305m NZD, set by Jurassic World in June.

The new Star Wars film has been a hit with both critics and audiences and around the world took in a staggering $756m NZD in just three days.

Movie experts say the space saga could become the biggest-selling movie of all time.

The latest film returns to “a galaxy far, far away” some 30 years on from the action of 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
