Stairmand and Vette eliminated from surfing

The 2024 Olympics in Paris are making waves with the surfing events taking place in Tahiti, a beautiful island in French Polynesia. This stunning location is known for its challenging and powerful waves, perfect for the world’s best surfers to showcase their skills.

Billy Stairmand, a talented surfer from Raglan, faced a tough competition. In an elimination round, he competed against two-time world champion Filipe Toledo from Brazil. Despite a strong start with an impressive 8.17 score on his first wave, Billy couldn’t overcome Toledo’s experience and was eliminated.

In another match, New Zealand’s Saffi Vette also faced a challenging opponent. She competed against Portugal’s Yolanda Hopkins in Round 2. Despite her best efforts, Saffi was unable to advance and was eliminated from the competition.

The surfing events in Tahiti are thrilling and showcase incredible talent from around the world. The powerful waves and beautiful setting make it a memorable part of the 2024 Olympics. Surfers are pushing their limits, aiming for Olympic glory in this exciting sport.
