Ross Taylor guides Black Caps to sensational victory

March 7, 2018

New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has guided the Black Caps to sensational victory in the fourth one-day cricket international against England.

Taylor hit a magnificent 181 not out as he saw New Zealand home with 3 balls remaining. The result keeps the five-match series alive as the teams head to Christchurch.

Batting first, England made 335 for nine with Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root both scoring centuries. Ish Sodhi was the most successful of the New Zealand bowlers taking 4-58 off his ten overs.

New Zealand started badly and were two runs for two wickets before hero of the day Ross Taylor walked to the crease. Ross Taylor combined in a 187 run fourth wicket stand with Tom Latham (71) which effectively brought the game back to New Zealand.

Going into the last over New Zealand needed three to win before Henry Nicholls hit Tom Curran over square leg for six to claim the victory.

Taylor’s century was his 19th in one day internationals and his highest in 203 matches.
