Needle in a haystack

November 17, 2014

Italian performance artist, Sven Sachsalber is doing what many believe is an impossible task – he’s searching for a needle in a haystack!

Sven can be seen searching through a huge pile of hay on public display at the Palais de Tokyo gallery in Paris, and the first day of his search was streamed online.

So why put yourself through all this searching? Sven is doing it in the name of contemporary art. Sven allocated 48 hours to the task but has said that this is only an estimated time frame and the exhibition will only close after he found the needle.

The determined artist says it is a fun task even though it is definitely hard work – and itchy! He says the hay gets everywhere!

So the question is…can you actually find a needle in a haystack, or is it simply an accurate phrase for the impossible?
