February 21, 2018

New Zealand’s Carlos Garcia Knight has qualified as the top qualifier for the men’s snowboarding Big Air competition at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.

Garcia Knight scored 97.50 points on his second run in the second two heats.

The big air event is making its Olympic debut in Pyeongchang. The event involves snowboarders hurtling down a ramp 49 metres high to perform spins and tricks to impress the judges.

Describing his second and top scoring run Garcia-Knight said it was the best he could possibly have done.

Knight finished fifth in the slopestyle final and the Big Air final is on Saturday.
