Dylan Schmidt, aNew Zealand’s male trampolinist, faced disappointment at the Paris Olympics after falling off the trampoline during his routine.

Schmidt, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games three years ago, was unable to complete his final performance. The 27-year-old athlete from Te Anau had entered the finals in fourth place, putting him in a strong position to win another medal.

During his final routine, Schmidt veered toward the edge of the trampoline and couldn’t recover. Despite twisting and turning in the air, he was caught by officials on a mat at the trampoline’s edge, hitting the floor hard. Fortunately, Schmidt was uninjured and quickly got back up, waving to the supportive crowd.

Belarusian favorite Ivan Litvinovich won the gold medal with a score of 63.090, beating two competitors from China. Despite his fall, Schmidt’s determination and sportsmanship were clear as he thanked the audience for their encouragement.
