In a remarkable display of cricket, 17-year-old Rohmalia Rohmalia from Indonesia set a new record for the best bowling figures in T20 international cricket by taking 7 wickets for no runs. This incredible achievement occurred during her first game for the national team against Mongolia in Bali.

Indonesia had set a challenging target of 152 runs, and in response, Mongolia was bowled out for just 24 runs in 16.2 overs. Rohmalia, an off-spinner, was particularly devastating, taking a wicket with her very first delivery and ensuring that five of her opponents didn’t score at all.

This performance places Rohmalia among the elite in women’s T20 cricket, joining Argentina’s Alison Stocks and the Netherlands’ Frederique Overdijk, who have also taken seven wickets in a match. The best record in the men’s game is held by Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus, who took 7-8 against China in 2023.

In the game, Mongolia’s captain Tsendsuren Ariuntsetseg was the top scorer for her team with seven runs, while Ni Nanda Sakarini contributed a significant 61 runs from 44 balls for Indonesia, helping them reach a total of 151-5. This game marks a significant milestone in Rohmalia’s budding cricket career.
