ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Did you know that netball is one of the most popular sports for girls in Aotearoa? Over 350,000 people play netball every year, which is a lot of people! And guess what? More recently boys have been starting to participate in netball, too!

Netball is a fun way to stay healthy and fit. Plus, it teaches you important skills like teamwork, leadership, and relationship building.

There have been some amazing wāhine Māori who have played netball at the highest level, representing Aotearoa as Silver Ferns. Bernice Mene, Temepara Bailey, Joeline Henry, and Noeline Taurua are just a few examples of former Silver Fern players who have made a big impact on the game of netball.

One of the reasons that netball is so popular is because it is very easy to participate in. Most schools in Aotearoa have netball teams or are connected to a local club and they provide the necessary uniform for players to borrow for the season.

So next time you’re looking for a fun way to stay active and build important life skills, contact your sports coordinator about how to get involved in netball. You never know, you might just become the next Silver Fern!
