Hamilton Wins F1

October 27, 2015

Lewis Hamilton won his third Formula One world championship after taking the chequered flag in a thrilling US Grand Prix.

Racing for Mercedes, the 30-year-old became the first British driver to win back-to-back titles. Hamilton also became the first driver to win 10 or more races in successive seasons.

“That’s the greatest moment of my life,” Hamilton said over the car radio on his slow down lap, “Thanks to my family, I love you all.”

Before the race Hamilton had to beat Vettel by nine points and Rosberg by two to take the championship crown, but for most of the race it looked as if he would have to wait until the next F1 race.

Hamilton’s teammate Nico Rosberg started on pole, but finished second after making a costly mistake while leading. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel took third place – 0.5 of a second behind.
