Entire village goes on sale

May 28, 2014

Popular surfing beaches and an entire seaside village is due to go on sale.

The Devonshire village, Bantham, is a privately-run estate that has been owned by the same family for generations.

It is expected that the 750 acres of land, a harbour, more than 40 houses, a shop and a local pub will be put on the market for around £11.5m.

Bantham does not allow people to have a house there as a second home, or let out cottages to holidaymakers or visitors, which the villagers believe creates a ‘happier community.’

However, local residents are worried that the new owners may not keep the same policy.

The real estate agent has already had a lot of interest for the property from all over the world.
