Breakers miss Australian NBL finals spot

February 14, 2017

The NZ Breakers have missed out on a finals position in the 2016/17 Australian NBL.

For only the second time in the last 7 years the Breakers wont take part in the finals series.

After eliminating Melbourne on Friday night, the Breakers needed Melbourne to topple Perth. However, the Wildcats won a nail-biter 96-94.

The win clinched Perth’s record 31st consecutive appearance in the post-season. It means that the Breakers finish the season in fifth spot with a 14-14 record.

The Breakers finished the seasons strongly, winning 6 of their last 8 games. But in his first season as coach, Paul Henare was unable to see his team qualify.
