New Zealand’s Black Caps have won the one-day series against Sri Lanka by winning the second match by six wickets in Hamilton.
New Zealand was set a target of 158 runs to win the match, and although it wasn’t easy, they managed to get there with 17 overs left.
Will Young played a fantastic innings of 86 not out to guide New Zealand to the win. He was helped by Henry Nicholls, who scored 44 not out.
Sri Lanka batted first but they didn’t do very well. They lost three wickets very early on, and four of their top five batters were out for low scores. Captain Dasun Shanaka did his best, but his score of 31 was not enough.
New Zealand’s bowlers did a great job, with Matt Henry, Henry Shipley and Daryl Mitchell all taking three wickets each to help the team limit Sri Lanka’s runs.
The teams will now switch to the T20 format for the next three matches, starting with the first game on Sunday in Auckland.
Yay. I knew New Zealand would win. 😉
