Black Caps beat Ireland

May 15, 2017

The Black Caps have won the first cricket One Day International over Ireland by 51 runs.

Five wickets from Mitchell Santner in the space of four overs saw New Zealand register a 51 run win.

Batting first the Black Caps made 289-7 in their 50 over with Neil Broom (79), Ross Taylor (52) and George Worker (50) all scoring half-centuries.

A century to Irish batsman Niall O’Brien (108) kept the home side in the run chase until Santner came to the bowling crease. He finished with 5-51 and was named player of the match.

New Zealand’s next game is against Bangladesh on Wednesday.
