The Australian Diamonds have beaten the Silver Ferns in the final of the Netball Quad Series in Cape Town.

A third-quarter blip proved costly as the Silver Ferns went down 56-50 to Australia.

The result means Australia won their seventh title since the start of the Quad Series in 2016.

However, there were positives for the Kiwi side.  New Zealand surged to a 19-15 lead after the first quarter and managed to stay in front 31-30 at half time.

However, Australia turned in a dominant third quarter which saw them outscore the Ferns 14-9. They started the final period four goals in front and extended that by two at the final whistle.

England beat South Africa 49-42 in the play-off for third.
