Australia dominate Rugby League World Cup Finals

December 3, 2017

Australia has dominated the Rugby League World Cups by winning both the men’s and women’s finals.

In the women’s final the Australian women were too clinical for New Zealand. The Australian side won 23-17 in Brisbane.

The Kiwi Ferns got off to a strong start with two first half tries to the tournament’s top try scorer Honey Hireme.

But the defending Cup holders struck back with two converted tries of their own to go into the break with a 12-10 lead. Costly handling errors by the Kiwi Ferns early in the second half started to turn the game to the Australians.

In the men’s final a first-half try to Boyd Cordner and desperate defence helped Australia win their 11th rugby league World Cup title with a 6-0 victory over England.

Both sides smashed each other into exhaustion with punishing defence and a fast-paced game.
