Adams wins 4th world title

August 13, 2013

Val Adams has won her fourth world championship title to become the most successful shot putter in world history.

The 28-year-old Olympic champion won the gold medal with a best throw of 20.88.

This was 47cm bigger than her nearest rival. Christina Schwanitz of Germany was second and China’s Lijiao Gong was third.

Adams’  four world title have all come in a row, with her first title coming in  Osaka in 2007. In between this sequence she has won two Olympic titles, to further cementing herself as one of the country’s athletics greats.

Adams is also the first woman in the world to win four  world athletics championships in a row, in any discipline.
