A massive benefit concert, FireAid, took place in Los Angeles on Thursday night to raise money for those affected by wildfires in the area.
The event featured two concerts at different venues, both with star-studded performances. Thousands attended in person, while millions watched online via platforms like Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, and TikTok.
One concert was held at the Kia Forum, while the other took place at the Intuit Dome, about a 2 kilometres away. Rock band Green Day kicked off the event at Kia Forum, with a surprise appearance from Billie Eilish. Later in the evening, Eilish performed again with her brother Finneas at the Intuit Dome.
Throughout the night, images of firefighters and wildfire destruction were displayed on screens. Survivors also shared emotional stories about losing their homes and escaping the fires. Rapper Lil Baby expressed his support, giving a “super shoutout” to first responders.
Pop star Olivia Rodrigo performed her hit songs Driver’s License and Deja Vu, calling the wildfire damage “heartbreaking.” California-born singer Katy Perry wore an LA Fire Department T-shirt and waved the California state flag as she sang.
