Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, reclaiming a title he first held from 2017 to 2021.

The inauguration, held on a chilly January day, marked the official transfer of power from Joe Biden to Mr. Trump.

A Historic Indoor Ceremony
For the first time in 40 years, the inauguration ceremony took place inside the Capitol’s Rotunda rather than outdoors, thanks to the freezing weather. Temperatures in Washington DC dipped to an -11°C!

After taking the oath of office, President Trump promised to “preserve, protect, and defend” the Constitution. Following the swearing-in, cannons were fired in celebration. His wife, Melania, his family, and Vice President JD Vance were all by his side for the big day.

Trump’s Optimistic Vision
In his first speech as president, known as the Inaugural Address, Mr. Trump declared, “The golden age of America begins right now.” He emphasised his confidence and optimism, saying his presidency would usher in “a thrilling new era of national success.” Of course, he repeated his famous campaign slogan, promising to “Make America great again.”

In attendance were not just political figures but also some of the biggest names in tech, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Tim Cook. It seems the tech world is as interested in America’s future as its leaders!

A Second Term for Mr. Trump
This marks Donald Trump’s second stint as president, having previously served from 2017 to 2021. With big promises and bold ideas, he’s back in the driver’s seat, steering the country into what he calls a “greater, stronger” era.
