Team New Zealand made it to the semi-finals of the Women’s America’s Cup in Barcelona but missed out on advancing to the final.

Italy’s Luna Rossa and Britain’s Athena Pathway qualified for the one-race final, which happened on Sunday morning.

Earlier in the day, the race schedule had to be shortened due to low winds, forcing Team New Zealand into a must-win situation against Switzerland’s Alinghi. Despite a rough start and the race being paused, the Kiwis came back strong in the restart, securing a second-place finish and a points tie. This allowed them to move on to the semi-finals after winning on a tie-breaker.

However, in the semi-final series, Team New Zealand placed fifth, with a key penalty for blocking Team Barcelona impacting their performance. The final of the Women’s America’s Cup is set for Sunday, alongside the men’s America’s Cup challenge between Britain and defending champions New Zealand.
