Taylor Swift made history at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York by winning seven top trophies, making her the biggest VMA winner ever.

Swift won the video of the year for her song “Fortnight,” which was also named ‘Song of the Summer’ and received the best collaboration award for her work with Post Malone. This brings her total VMA wins to 30, surpassing Beyoncé’s 27.

Swift also took home the awards for best pop, best artist, best direction, and best editing. After receiving her astronaut-shaped trophy, she shared that although her winning video seemed sad, it was the most fun to make.

The night was full of big moments for other artists as well. Newcomer Chappell Roan won best new artist and performed her hit “Good Luck, Babe!” dressed in a suit of armor. Sabrina Carpenter’s record-breaking song “Espresso” won song of the year, and she was even lifted by astronauts during her performance.

South African artist Tyla won best Afrobeats song for “Water” but used her acceptance speech to highlight the diversity of African music, which is more than just Afrobeats. Billie Eilish’s song “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie movie won the ‘Video for Good’ award, honoring videos with strong social messages.
