A 13-year-old from Oklahoma, named Willis Gibson, did something amazing with a classic computer game called Tetris. Tetris is 40 years old and was made in 1984 by a smart guy named Alexey Pajitnov in the Soviet Union. It’s a game where you have to fit different colored blocks together really fast.
Willis has become the first person (not a robot!) to beat Tetris! It took him just 38 minutes. He played so well that he reached level 157 and scored over 999,999 points! When he did this, the game couldn’t handle it and crashed. He was so surprised and said, “I’m going to pass out, I can’t feel my fingers.”
Tetris is super popular. It was released by Nintendo in 1989 and has a catchy theme tune and cool Russian designs. It’s a game that’s meant to be played forever without an end.
Before Willis, only computers and robots could beat Tetris. But in 2010, people found a way to crash the game, and that was like winning. A gamer named Thor Aackerlund was the first to find a way for people to get really far in the game.
On January 2, Willis made history by being the first human to do this. He shared his amazing achievement on social media, where he’s known as Blue Scuti. Willis said he never expected to beat the game. His awesome 38-minute game also set several world records, including the highest score ever!
