World’s longest Mullet

A Tennessee woman has achieved a Guinness World Record for having the longest competitive mullet. Tami Manis has not cut the hair on the back of her head since February 9, 1990, and her mullet now measures an impressive 1.72 m long.

While Manis keeps the front and sides of her hair short, she has maintained the distinctive mullet look for over three decades. She was inspired to grow a mullet in her youth after seeing a girl in Til Tuesday’s “Voices Carry” music video. Despite briefly cutting it off in 1989, she quickly regretted the decision.

In 2022, Manis took second place in the “femullet” category at the U.S. Mullet Championships, earning a $300 prize. Shortly after the contest, she learned that Guinness World Records had opened a category for the longest competitive mullet.

The application process was extensive, but Manis’s dedication paid off when she received a certificate confirming her world record achievement. Her unique hairstyle has made her memorable to people she has encountered over the years, and now it’s earned her a place in the 2024 edition of Guinness World Records.
