The Kiwi women’s K4 crew achieved an incredible victory in their 500m event, marking a historic moment for New Zealand’s kayaking legacy.
The amazing Lisa Carrington, already a record-holder with 14 world championship gold medals, along with her talented teammates Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett, and Tara Vaughan, clinched this significant win. They are the very first K4 team from New Zealand, regardless of gender, to secure a world championship title.
An ecstatic Carrington shared her pride post-race, emphasizing the power of teamwork. “We’ve poured so much effort into this,” she commented during onsite commentary. “This is what happens when a team works together.”
The New Zealand team achieved their victory in a speedy time of 1.30.606, outpacing Poland by just under a second with a time of 1.31.320. Spain secured the bronze medal in this thrilling event.
