New Zealander wins Mountain Bike Gold Medal

Sam Gaze of New Zealand successfully defended his Mountain Bike Short Course cross-country title at the Cycling World Championships held in Glasgow. The Alpecin-Deceuninck professional maintained a strong presence throughout the race, leading a group at the front before breaking away on an uphill section just a few hundred meters from the finish line. Gaze then held on to win a photo finish sprint against Frenchman Victor Koretzky at the Glentress course in Tweed Valley, Scottish Borders.

Gaze’s tactical approach and strong performance secured his victory and his second consecutive world title in this event. He expressed his satisfaction with the result and the challenging course. The Cycling World Championships in Glasgow also include cross-country races for under-23 men and women, as well as elite men and women
