In a surprising turn of events at the annual Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling race in England, an unconscious woman emerged as the winner of one of the rounds. Delaney Irving, a 19-year-old participant from Canada, traveled all the way to Brockworth near Gloucester to take part in this exhilarating event. Little did she know that her victory would come as a shock to her when she woke up in a medical tent.

The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling race is a unique competition where participants race down the steep Cooper’s Hill in pursuit of a rolling wheel of double Gloucester cheese. The one who reaches the bottom first claims the prize of a real wheel of cheese. However, in this particular round, things took an unexpected turn for Delaney.

Video footage captured the dramatic moment as Irving stumbled and tumbled unconscious across the finish line. She had no idea of her triumph until she regained consciousness in the medical tent. Imagine her surprise upon learning that she had won the race, all while being unaware of her achievement.

The Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling race has a rich history that dates back to at least 1826, and local legends suggest it may have even started as far back as the mid-17th century. Originally part of the Cooper’s Hill Wake festival, which included various activities like wrestling matches and shin-kicking competitions, the modern event now focuses solely on cheese rolling. Additionally, there is an uphill race for children to win sweets, adding to the fun and excitement of the day.
