A large patch of water in Venice’s central waterway appeares to have turned fluorescent green.

Local authorities quickly responded, collecting water samples and launching an exciting investigation to uncover the magical transformation’s mystery.

Speculations arose about what caused the canals near the famous Rialto Bridge to turn green. Some thought a special dye was released, while others believed it was a creative environmental message.

The police have reviewed security camera footage to see if it was a planned surprise during the Volgalonga regatta that weekend.

Social media buzzed with people drawing parallels to a similar event in 1968 when an artist dyed the Grand Canal green to raise awareness about protecting the environment.
