A British boy named Max Woosey has raised more than $860,000 for charity by sleeping in a tent in his family’s backyard for three years! Max began his project, called “Boy in the Tent,” on March 28, 2020, when he was 10 years old. His goal was to raise money for North Devon Hospice, the hospice that cared for his neighbor Rick Abbot, who died of cancer in 2020.

Max slept outside in his tent every night for three years and raised lots of money for the hospice. He even broke a Guinness World Record for the most money raised by camping (individual)!

Max’s adventure was chronicled on social media, which made him quite famous. He was even able to pitch his tent and sleep in cool places like the London Zoo, the garden at No. 10 Downing Street, and the Twickenham Rugby Grounds.

After three years, Max slept in his tent for the last time on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. He’s headed back inside now, but he’s had an amazing adventure and helped raise lots of money for charity. Max hopes his story will inspire other kids to do good things and show that they’re capable of amazing things.
