A young boy from China has just broken a Guinness World Record for his Rubik’s cube skills! Yiheng Wang, who is only 9 years old, showed off his amazing talent at the Yong Jun KL Speedcubing 2023 event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He attempted to solve a 3x3x3 cube five times and recorded times of 4.35, 3.9, 4.41, 5.31, and 6.16 seconds.
The World Cube Association requires that the fastest and slowest times are not counted when calculating the average, so Yiheng’s official average time was 4.69 seconds. This is a new world record for the fastest average time to solve a 3x3x3 rotating puzzle cube, beating the previous record of 4.86 seconds, which was held by Max Park of the United States and Tymon Kolasiński of Poland.
Yiheng’s incredible 3.9-second solve was also the fourth-fastest ever recorded, according to the WCA. We can’t wait to see what amazing feats this young speedcuber accomplishes next!
