Djokovic and Sabalenka win Australian Open

Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic have been crowned champions of Melbourne by winning the Australian Open tennis tournament.

In the women’s final Sabalenka blasted her way to victory with a 4-6 6-3 6-4 win over the 22nd seed Elena Rybakina. The result was her maiden Grand Slam title.

The win was Sabalenka’s 11th straight victory of the year will mean that the Belarusian is now ranked world number two behind Poland’s Iga Swiatek.

In the men’s final Novak Djokovic used his grand slam experience to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6(4) 7-6(5) victory at Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic has now won a record setting 10 Australian Open titles.

The final was a rematch of the 2021 French Open decider and the victory sees Djokovic reclaim the world number one ranking and again deny Tsitsipas his maiden major title.

Djokovic has now won 22nd Grand Slam title and is tied at the top of the list with Rafa Nadal.
