The New Zealand men’s football team have beat Fiji 2-0 victory in the first leg of their Oceania World Cup qualifier in Lautoka.
The teams played out a goalless first half at Churchill Park before Fiji gave away two strange own goals.
Two minutes into the second half, while not under any pressure, a Fiji defender handled the ball inside the box and captain Chris Wood scored from the penalty.
Eight minutes later a series of back passes to goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara went horribly wrong as Marco Rojas tackled the keeper to score an easy goal.
The teams meet again on Tuesday in Wellington.
