The Silver Ferns beat Australia 52-47 at the Netball World Cup in Sydney. It is New Zealand’s first win over the Diamonds since 2013, and it brings Australia’s 10 match winning streak over the Silver Ferns to an end.
The Silver Ferns were leading Australia 29-26 at half-time and then the Kiwis raced to a 40-34 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Despite surging in the final quarter the Diamonds were unable to recover and the five point win means New Zealand clinch top spot in pool A.
Both sides will progress to the next stage of the tournament.
