NRL clubs fined over head injuries

March 20, 2017

The NRL has fined three clubs for breaching concussion protocols during games over the weekend.

The Gold Coast Titans, St George Illawarra Dragons and Newcastle Knights have all been accused of failing to follow concussion rules.

The Dragons and Knights were hit with a $100,000 fine while the Titans are facing a $150,000 fine over the treatment of Kane Elgey, Joe Greenwood and Ryan Simpkins.

Player safety is the NRL’s main priority according to CEO Todd Greenburg. In a press conference today he said he won’t tolerate breaches in concussion protocols.

The clubs have five days to respond to the breach notices.
