Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 133 runs off 113 balls, leading the Black Caps to a six-wicket win against South Africa in a tri-series ODI match in Lahore on Monday.

New Zealand successfully chased a target of 305 runs, thanks to a massive 187-run partnership between Williamson and Devon Conway, who scored 97 runs. The win secured New Zealand a spot in the tri-series final, where they will face either Pakistan or South Africa in Karachi on Friday.

Conway’s innings came as a welcome boost after replacing Rachin Ravindra, who was sidelined due to a head injury. Although Conway fell just short of a century, his performance strengthens his case for a key role in the Black Caps’ lineup. Ravindra, however, is expected to recover in time for the Champions Trophy, starting next week.

South Africa’s squad featured several newcomers, with only four players part of their Champions Trophy team. New Zealand’s bowlers, including Matt Henry (2-57) and Michael Bracewell (1-43), helped contain South Africa in the final overs, making the run chase slightly easier.

The Black Caps now shift focus to the final in Karachi on Friday, aiming to keep their momentum ahead of the Champions Trophy. With Williamson in excellent form and Conway stepping up, New Zealand looks poised for a strong campaign.
