Black Caps lose Chappell Hadlee series

December 7, 2016

The Black Caps have lost the Chappell Hadlee series following a 116 loss to Australia in the 2nd One Day International.

Australia batted first and posted a mammoth 378, which proved far too much for the New Zealanders to chase down, despite a 125 run partnership for the third wicket from captain Kane Williamson and all-rounder Jimmy Neesham.

Williamson earlier won the toss and elected to bowl first after play was delayed by five minutes due to drizzle, which had been falling for much of the day.

The result means that Australia win the Chappell-Hadlee trophy from New Zealand with a match still to play.

The third ODI will be played in Melbourne on Friday.
