Last month, a zoo director in Denmark received death threats after the zoo had a healthy young giraffe killed with a bolt-gun and fed to the lions.
The zoo sparked outrage around the world after the giraffe was put to sleep and then dissected in front of an audience, despite other zoos offering the giraffe a home with them.
The baby giraffe, known as Marius, was put to sleep because he did not fit in with the zoo’s breeding programme as his genes were ‘too common.’
The zoo is under fire once again after killing four of its lions. Two older lions and two cubs were killed in order to make room for a new male lion they are introducing.
The zoo said that the new male would have killed the other young lions and since they were unable to rehome them, had them put down, sparking outrage from animal lovers around the world.
